I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Women's and Gender Studies at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and a pre-doctoral fellow at the Carter G. Woodson Institute for African American and African Studies at the University of Virginia. My current research seeks to understand technology practices among Black girls. I am particularly interested in how Black girls use cell-phone generated photography and film to contribute to cultural discourses on race, gender, and sexuality and how these visual expressions inform and reflect Black girls’ creation of and movement through space.
